Slowing the spread of Spotted Lanternfly
SLF is expected to completely colonize Ohio in the next decade.
This pest poses a significant risk to Ohio’s many vineyards and wineries. Recent analysis suggest the OH wine industry is worth more than $1 billion (that’s with a B!!). Right now, we’re trying to predict where SLF will pop up AND prepare growers to manage this new pest. In the past, I collaborated with Heather Leach, former Extension associate at Penn State University to learn more about Spotted Lanternfly (SLF) in Pennsylvania. Most of our research stems around understanding how SLF interacts with the grape agroecosystem.
